2006-10-03: New N-series camphones: Nokia N95 and N75
Nokia expands the N-series family with the new multimedia computers Nokia N95 and N75.

The Nokia N95 HSDPA 2 way slide phone features a 5 megapixel (2592x1944 pixels) Carl Zeiss camera with flash, auto-focus, can snap VGA videos at 30 fps, a secondary CIF camera for video calling, a 2.6" QVGA (240x320 pixel) 16M colors high resolution main display, a microSD memory card of up to 2GB, FM radio and build in GPS navigation. The Nokia N95 is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2007.

  



The Nokia N75 UMTS clamshell phone provides a complete multimedia experience it offers a 2 megapixel (1600x1200 pixels) camera with flash LED, 16x digital zoom, video (CIF), a 2.4" QVGA (240x320 pixel) 16M colors high resolution main display, a microSD memory card of up to 2GB and FM radio.

The Nokia N75 Supports a multitude of different formats, including MP3, M4A, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA and is expected to be available initially in the US during the last quarter of 2006.

  





2006-08-10: A full entertainment with the new Sony Ericsson K618
Sony Ericsson unveiled its new 3G candy bar camera phone, offering a 2 Megapixels (1600 x 1200 pixels) camera with flash, 2.5x digital zoom and Picture Blog application, QCIF video recording & streaming, QVGA video playback, secondary VGA camera for video calls, a TFT (176x220 pixels) 262k color display, Bluetooth and 256MB Memory Stick Micro (M2).

  


This one really has all the features required in a slim and light pack. This compact phone is well equipped for both capturing & sharing photos, and playing music. We expect it to be on the market in the 3rd quarter of 2006.




2006-08-02: Motorola 4 RAZR
Motorola unveiled four new cameraphones: the Motorola KRZR K1, RIZR, RAZR V3xx and RAZR maxx successors of the popular RAZR. All of the four have clamshell design and offer high-resolution cameras.

Both handsets the Motorola RAZR V3xx and RAZR maxx are 3.5G technology - HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) offer features as: QVGA (240x320 pixels), 262k color display, extended video capture and playback capabilities and video sharing, Two-way Video Calling through secondary VGA camera at up to 15fps, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. The difference is in the camera. The Motorola RAZR maxx has a 2 megapixel camera (1600x1200 pixels) with 8x digital zoom for low or hi-resolution imaging and flash. Where as the Motorola RAZR V3xx has a 1.3 megapixel camera (1280x1024 pixels).

The Motorola KRZR K1 offers Hi-quality imaging via 2 megapixel digital camera (1600x1200 pixels) with 8x digital zoom, and image editing, video (CIF) and microSD memory card.

The Motorola RIZR is equipped with a 2 megapixel camera (1600x1200 pixels) with a fixed lens 8x digital zoom and flash, video and microSD card slot.

The new camphones are expected to be available in the second half of 2006.

        



2006-04-25: Nokia N93/N73 and N72
Nokia expands the N-Series by adding three new camera phones: Nokia N93, Nokia N73 and Nokia N72. All of them run the latest 3rd edition of Nokia S60 over Symbian, have high-resolution cameras with flash, Bluetooth and miniSD card slot.

The Nokia N93 UMTS phone is the last word in video recording and will offer a Carl Zeiss 3.2 megapixel (2048x1536 pixels) camera with flash, auto-focus, 3x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom, can snap VGA videos at 30 fps, a miniSD card of up to 2GB, a 2.4" QVGA (240x320 pixel) 262K colors high resolution main display with super-wide 160 degree viewing angle and a DVD- like video capture that allows you to capture a 90 minutes high-quality home movies and burn them to DVD. The Nokia N93 is expected to become commercially available in July 2006

  


The Nokia N73 features a Carl Zeiss 3.2 megapixel (2048x1536 pixels) camera with flash, auto-focus, a 2.4" QVGA (240x320 pixel) 262K colors high resolution main display, a secondary VGA camera for video calling. The Nokia N73 UMTS camera phone provides 'real' photo quality up to 10" x 8" (25 x 20 cm) the camera is pretty similar to the camera the Nokia N93 has and is also expected in July 2006.

  


The Nokia N72 multimedia camera phone is equipped with a 2 Megapixels (1600 x 1200 pixels) camera, flash, video (CIF), integrated digital music player and FM radio The Nokia N72 is expected to be available from June 2006.

2006-01-17: BenQ-Siemens S88 and EF81
BenQ Mobile has launched today the new BenQ-Siemens S88 and EF81. The S88 is a high-class camera phone. Its main features are a 2 megapixel (1600x1200 pixels) camera with autofocus, 16x digital zoom, LED flash, video, an active Matrix OLED display (176x220 pixels) with 262,144 colors, MP3 music player and microSD memory card.
This compact camera phone is held in a horizontal position for easy use when taking pictures and can take pictures without making any noise. The S88 is absolutely a full multimedia enjoyment.

    


The EF81 is UMTS clamshell camera phone offers a 2 megapixel (1600x1200 pixels) camera with 5x digital zoom, video, rotating lens which allow 3G video calls, a QVGA (240x320 pixels) 262,144 colors display, a media player that supports MP3, AAC++, MPEG4, RealVideo 8/9, h.263 and 3GPP and up to 1GB microSD memory card.

    


We can only hope it is a new beginning for this cooperation between BenQ and Siemens. These two handsets will be available starting from March 2006.


2006-01-16: Nokia 6125
Nokia today presented its new mid-range clamshell phone. The 6125 offers a 1.3 megapixel camera (1280x1024 pixels) with 8x 'smooth' digital zoom, and QCIF video at 15FPS with up to 5 minutes of video capture time.

  


The Nokia 6125 runs Series40 and includes Macromedia Flash Player, a built-in digital music player supporting MP3, MP4, eAAC+ and WMA, a TFT display (128x160 pixels) 256k colors and a microSD memory card.
At an affordable price the Nokia 6125 is expected in Q2 2006


2006-01-04: Sony Ericsson W810
Sony Ericsson announced today its latest Walkman-branded mobile the successor of the W800 we all know. It has some improvements such as a light sensor for the keypad backlight and it is a Quad-band EDGE phone. The features which remained the same are an integrated 2 mega pixel camera (1632x1224 pixels) with 4x digital zoom auto-focus and flash, 512MB removable memory stick (can get up to 2GB), FM radio and a TFT (176x220 pixels) 262k color display.

  


It's definitely a better phone then its previous model so it is a good thing Sony Ericsson doesn't let us wait a lot, we expect it to be on the market in the Q1 of 2006.




2005-12-25: Nokia 6233/6234
Nokia unveiled two new 3G cameraphones the Nokia 6233 and 6234 which has the same features but looks a bit different and will be available exclusively for Vodafone customers world-wide.

  


Both handsets offer 2 megapixel CMOS sensor camera (1600x1200 pixels) with 8x digital zoom and flash, a QVGA (240x320 pixels), 262k color display, shoots QCIF video at up to 15fps, stereo FM radio, digital music player, stereo speakers and 70MB of storage.

  


The Nokia 6233 is the latest handset to feature the Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition. It's frame is stainless steel, it also has Bluetooth wireless technology for quick and easy data transfer and connectivity and a microSD memory card of up to 2GB.


2005-11-26: Samsung Z510/Z540
Only 14.9mm thick and under 100 grams weight Samsung unveils its new Z510 and Z540 3G handsets.

The Z510 features a 1.3 megapixel camera (1280x960 pixels) with 4x digital zoom and flash, a 2.2" QVGA (240x320 pixel) 262K colors high resolution main display, MP3/AAC/MPEG4 multimedia player, Bluetooth, a document viewer and 138Mb of shared internal memory. The handset not only shoots stills but also records video in MPEG4 and H.263 formats, and is also capable of video telephony and streaming.

The Z540 is nearly identical to the Z510's features with some slight changes. The main camera is the same 1.3 megapixels camera with supplemental secondary camera for video calling, a similar QVGA display upgraded to 2.3", 4x digital zoom, 150Mb and external media player controls. It also supports audio format for music playback through dual stereo speakers.

Both of these handsets are impressively slim and lightweight for 3G phones but the 1.3 megapixel cameras and the absence of expandable memory is quite disappointing.
